Beam racking puts a pallet under a different type of stress from floor storage. A pallet may carry a load safely on the floor and still be a poor fit for a rack. Start with the rack, the load and the pallet support points.
Measure the rack support before choosing a pallet
Ask how far the beams are apart and where they support the pallet. The clear span, the pallet’s runner layout and the loaded weight all affect the choice. Send a photo or drawing of the rack if possible. It is easier to compare suitable structures when the support condition is clear.
Check the load, not only the pallet size
Two loads with the same weight can behave differently. Cartons spread the load differently from bags, drums or a heavy item in the middle of the deck. Give the pallet supplier the loaded weight, the cargo footprint and the way the load sits on the pallet.
Choose a structure made for the storage method
For beam racking, do not use a blow-molded pallet photo as a substitute for a rackable pallet specification. Review the runner arrangement, deck support and any reinforcement against the actual rack. Confirm how the pallet is handled
Racking is only one part of the process. Confirm whether the pallet is moved by forklift, conveyor or pallet jack, and whether it also needs to be stacked or shipped. A product selected for racking must still work through the rest of the route.

Provide the rack beam span, supported edges, pallet size, loaded weight, cargo footprint, handling equipment and working environment. Those details make a useful recommendation possible.
